Title Sequence
Overview: Assignment 2 was definitely my favorite assignment thus far. Creating a title sequence based on something you're interested in was really enjoyable, but being forced to make it different from you chosen inspiration was a fun idea. I chose Marvel, an iconic title sequence that many people know. Using that as a basis, I wanted create some meaningful to myself. Something that I loved was manga, a form of Japanese comics. So I used that to replaced the comics used throughout the Marvel title sequence.
Target Audience
As someone who loves manga, I targeted it towards people who are near my age since the sequence and design was based off of my personal choices. The average age of the target audience would be around 18 - 25, since there's some darker and more younger manga included in the title sequence.
Process Work:
Design Challenges
I faced many challenges throughout the project, one of the main ones being organization and working with a camera in AE. I learned a bit of the camera in highschool but I forgot most of the information so I had to look at tutorials and articles that explained it so I could get an idea on the basics of it. Another one being organization, since I had so many pictures of manga panels, so ensuring I had an organized file was key during this project.
Lessons Learned?
With this assignment finally completed, I learned a lot in terms of organization, 3D cameras, and waveform.
Organization: Once again organization became a big lesson, having to keep track of all the images was a big task and I learned proper file management this time to ensure I don't lose anything or I end up with errors within my file.
3D Camera: I I forgot most of my lessons relating to the 3D camera from Highschool so having to learn them again was difficult at first. I learned the basics to not cause too many issues in terms of timing, but I was able to accomplish basic movement and hope to continue with them in the near future.
Waveform: When working with so many images, it can get quite confusing when trying to time them all accurately. Organization helped a lot but also using the waveform to have precise timing inline with the music was super important.
Conclusion (Was the animation successful?)
With the assignment completed, I was quite happy with the final deliverable. I wish I had more time to make it longer but I do plan on continuing this project during the Winter break to extend it and add more details. But for now, I think it turned out great even though it was quite simple. I stuck to the Marvel theme, while ensuring I added my own touches to it so I am happy in terms of that.
